Modernism At What Cost????? “Are We Really Free or Are We Still The Slaves of West in Aping The Negatives”

Hey friends..

Happy Republic Day to all my Indian friends and Hello and Good Morning to all the other visitors to my blog.

Back again with another of my thoughts. Something most of us know. The irony; that we still are unmoved and just say, to hell with the thought…..Jaisa chal raha hai chalne do. Never mind just doing my part, and you all do what suits your attitude, moods and conscience.

With the beginning of the New Year we ought to at least give it a stern consideration as to where we all are heading towards.

In the country which is exceedingly acknowledged and accredited for Her Love, Harmony, Devout Traditions, Cultures, Ethnicity, Unity in Diversity and so many other unique traits. What kind of wind is swaying away Her uniqueness and why is She Loosing the centuries old Opulence and Magnificence, and why is She becoming a copy cat. When the Alien Countries are so much inclined and fascinated towards our high esteemed and classical style, culture, customs and traditions. Why are we then aping the Western Culture which stands nowhere near to our’s Sacred one.

I think, if we call the coming age as a new sexual age, then it won’t be wrong. I remember that when I was a twelve-thirteen year old child, I used to see good and healthy relationship between boys & girls. There was not a fast pace of sexual revelation. Now when I have crossed about one-third of my life, I am really very shocked by seeing the drastic change in the thinking, character, or it can be rightly said an over all change in the personality of a human being. Humanity, True Friendship & Love seems to have lost deep down, somewhere & selfish & materialist fulfillment of Personal desires seem to have taken their place. We have entered into a world where words like “friendship”, “Honesty”, “Love” & “Humanity” all seem to be just bookish subjects. Life has become so fast that now every body, especially the young boys & girls want to experience everything fast & get all pleasures fast.

This changed climate is getting evident in the schools & colleges which are supposed to be the centers & temples of Education & Knowledge. As a result, the younger generation instead of concentrating on their studies is getting into relationships, which more often than often, are exposing the darker side of sexual freedom.

Well like Swami Vivekanandji; I too am not opposed to the positives and learning from the West.  For Vivekanandji knew that Western people had some great qualities and it was because of those qualities that they became so rich & powerful. He wanted India to learn science and technology from the West and its power to organize and also its practical sense. But at the same We (Indians) must retain High Moral and Spiritual Idealism.

The information boom and availability of every thing at a finger tip, is a great sign of global set up we are entering. But are we really making use of the good things available or aren’t we going towards the wrong track. With all the types of large number of Channels and sites which are serving everything that is worthless and which are more & more setting a fast pace of Extra- Modernism & Sexual Revelation. As a result of which sexual experience for many girls and boys is something like Fad Fashion, something to wear & flaunt, something where love stand no where and is only a say word & relations just mean nothing, but sexual revelation.

In this new sexual age, the time has come that we all should fasten our seat belts and should give it a serious thought and in unity need to do something very soon. Otherwise our whole generation will be lost before they comeback to their mooring. Let us teach our young generation the greatness of character, love & humanity. Let’s first ourselves feel & imbibe things from inside & than inculcate in them (the young generation) the feelings of good life style of Character & Commitment, & not casualness.

I think that its time we bring this Extra- Modernism & Materialism to a stop, otherwise the future would be so dark, where even the dawn of the sun won’t help us in our dawn from darkness.

Think it over Guys!!!!!! & lets ask ourselves: Modernism At What Cost?.

So till we meet again. Take care…..and make a good day and life ahead. Be Positive as always.

That’s it from the Desk of

  1. hi! i certainly agree with the premise of your piece! we are living in “fast” times….fast food, fast cars, fast love…
i wish we could pay heed to W H Davies’ “Leisure”…and enjoy the good things in life!

  2. Hey Ra aka Miss Bright

Thank You . And ya you are correct “enjoy the good things in Life.”….But that’s the paradox; how many of us really adhere to this maxim? Still if each one of us does it for himself/herself than this world will still be a better place to live in. And by mentioning the Poem “Leisure” by the famous W H Davies , you have actually given me a needed high. Thanks again. Catch you again with another post soon…Make a nice life

  3. Complete agreeing with your post, i’d say that we need more awareness of the fact that we need to be rooted to our culture while we grow up like a tree.
Modernization is important, but realization is more.

  5. Hey! Really this was better piece…
In the previous decade divorce rate was 7.40 marriages out of 1000 marriage. But now statistics shows 1 out of 100 Indian marriage ends up with divorce.
A survey states that over the past four years the divorce rate in Delhi, the capital city of India has almost doubled and is projected to be 12000 by the year 2008. In 2006, Bangalore, the IT hub of India it was recorded that 1,246 cases of divorce was filed in the court that pertains to the IT sector exclusively. It has been estimated Mumbai has shot up to 4,138 in 2007 while cities that are acknowledged for their cultural richness and social values like Kolkata and Chennai, are no less behind. Agro based states like Punjab and Haryana are now seeing an increase of 150% of divorce rate since the last decade. Kerala, known to be the most literate state has experienced an increase of divorce rate by 350% in the last 10 years.
True we really need to wake up… it’s high time.
    All the best…

    • Oh Thank you for liking it.

And hey, you have done great homework on this comment. Great dear…The news you have shared up will give a better understanding to reader on the post.

You are update on such issues, that means you are aware and also concerned…

      Keep the good work going..

  6. What you’ve written is completely true.
    But the question is “how?”
We can crib all we want about the modernization but we also know that if we aren’t a part of it, we aren’t a part of this age.
So what should we do to optimize this modernization?

    • hey Ishu,

Wow, your comment itself says you read the article with great Interest. Thanks for doing that.

The answer to the Question “How”?

For that I think u need to read the post again especially the following Paragraphs

“Well like Swami Vivekanandji; I too am not opposed to the positives and learning from the West.

And by the way my dear, I have supported the Positives of every thing. So herein the question of being against Modernization doesn’t even rise. And I totally agree that if we aren’t a part of it, we aren’t a part of this age. But isn’t too much of everything, that too on the negative cords is wrong????

We can actually optimize this modernization, by What Swami Vivekanandji Wanted Us to do Before Independence(the Irony, 63 Years have passed and we haven’t yet understood the mantra) i.e. take the positives/good from everywhere, keep your Values & Virtues Primary. Blend Them and Optimize the Modernism…..

      Change yourself, not the world.

I hope your question has neared some result after reading the reply…

      thank you so much

  7. My dear you have truly hit the bulls eye..I am so impressed to read your article..we should all start modernizing our world by preserving and maintaining our culture and traditions, so that we can sustain our foundation with strength and stability..we do this by ingraining this ideology to minors at a very early age…last but not least charity begins at home,, families should be responsible in raising their children with the proper morals and values, by incorporating and executing into actions and not just words, so that children will follow the examples they see. God bless you always…continue to inspire us with your greatness and wisdom!

  8. Well thanks a life Bahaar for the compliment & like….I totally agree with what ever you have expressed..The duty of parents as well as the teachers teaching in the temples of education need to take their responsibilities seriously & honestly….And dear I will try my best to come up to your expectations by my coming posts.. thanks again..god bless u…

  9. Good Morning my dear, and thanks alot for the brilliant reply. I am quite optimistic that you will exceed all of my expectations as you have already been doing. So keep up the excellence..keep on shining and smiling, and stay blessed always!!!

  10. Hey Good Morning To The Divine Bahaar.I am elated by the way you have applauded my small efforts. Thanks a lot for your kind & generous wishes. May the Allah bless you with a lot of Radiance and Excellence.

  11. what ever u written it’s very true.i m fully agree with u. i dont say that having these relationships are bad .bt changing them for timepass is worst thing.for teenagers this time is nt foll all these things.they should concentrate on there carrier or there future.

  12. bilkul sai kaha apny ajkal k bachay time s pehly mature ho rahy hain or us hij ko vo advancement or modern culture ka naam dayty hain sach to yay hai ki ajkal ka bacha colg padhny k liye gf or bf find karny jata hai…..guys stop dis try to understand the differance b/w culture nd modern culture

  13. Yes Tall Girl, you are very correct in what ever you have said in your comment. This is the irony my dear, the present generation is so very glued into the fast pace of self satisfaction that they forget the repercussions of this in their later parts of life. Thanks my dear for liking the post and appreciating too.

  14. Yes very true my dear. But here the fault is of the parents not the children, for they give a blind eye to what their children are doing. So as elders we need to understand our duty and responsibility.

  15. ya i agree wid ur view………………………..very nicely written………….it has become an fashion……..
we have learn bad things frm west but not good thingssssssssss
    very gud post

  16. antoher nice piece of thought..i really appreciate ur wondrful attempt
its very true that these days our country is being influenced by d so called western modes of life,n dey hav made modernism der way of life…sum consider it 2 be d attributes of d higher class…
but der is one thing …modernism in all d matters of clothng, sexual revelation is not necessary, one needs to hav a modern outlook..n dat outlook actually depends on d modern mindset wich v shud develop..dis modern outlook includes a wider acceptance of certain things like widow remaariage, treating women wid respect wich depicts d modernity of our country..eradicating conservative n cheap acts like “honour killing” (wich is one result of d most conservative outlooks of sum mean minded people of our country) , n coming 2 d part of sexual revelation, crimes like rape n molestation of women r day by increasing in our country in states like U.P ,wer did the modern outlook vanish ..modernity doesn’t lie in showing sexual superiority over a woman n assaulting her..
so these are d grounds where a modern mindset shud prevail in getting rid of dese crimes

prithveesh i really appreciate ur effort in raising a voice against all dis..we actually need persons like u who can giv a moral boost 2 2day’s generation in taking measures against all dis n protect d culture of our country ….gud work

    • Hey nice add on to my post from your good end dear. Its really elating to see the like and appreciation coming from your good end. I am really happy that you liked it . Thank you so much for the applause and the great words for me. Being educated, I am just doing the little bit I can. Well I am just a simple guy wanting to have a simple and good surrounding and world. Thank you so much. It really means a lot.

  17. ya sir u r parent’s think’s that there children should have the freedom. which they did not got. that’s why they believe there children.
bt children break there believe’s.and because of that type of children other good children loss the chance.which they deserve.

    • Well I have my thoughts on this. In some way you are correct that parents want their children to have better lives then they had, when they were young. Look its not about believing or not believing our children. It’s about the right kind of nurturing, guidance and attention given on the part of the parents is what really matters. More over giving children things and commodities before the actual age is the main reason for this fast pace of life. I mean if at an age when a student should be studying and concentrating on good habits, and good morals, if parents start giving their children a freedom of every thing then…I dont think the child is to be blamed…Its the parents fault entirely. And your last sentence has a negative vibe Ayushi, shun it down my dear. Success in life is achieved by sacrificing leisure’s and pleasures of life in the beginning.

In the Journey of life no road is smooth, but in the longer run with the time and travel experience the journey of life becomes smoother.

  18. ya sir u r right. actually my means is that if parents give freedom to there children than children do not leave there good path.but if they give them over freedom that time children leave that way.and 1 more thing that the parent who keep there children’s on there term’s and condition’s.and keep them at home just like a case.then there children does unnecessary activities..
.it is real meaning of my words.

    • Well This is infact a much better interpretation of what you had said earlier. I can understand what you want to say..The Bottom line is….a proper balance is very necessary for a better and successful life.

  19. and today’s children want to do something in today’s trend…. if they do not get chance for it.then they become’s negative.and does wrong thing’s.

  20. A very apt. question raised by u ..which needs a serious thinking by all of us … surely where is this blind following of western culture leading us to??? Indian culture has witnessed serious severe attacks right from ancient time but still it maintained its identity coz of our ability to grasp the good n to leave the evil…we always stood firm in our beliefs……But at present time in our zeal to be called modern we are fast giving up our values and morals…”.Bhartiya mulye ki ek nari ke alawa sabhi maa saman hai ki jagah hum western manyata ki ek ke alawa sabhi nariyan bhog ki vastu hai”… ko preference de rahe hai……The result is in front of us…….. we are becoming more n more materialistic …where Love N Care are considered to be outdated n cause disturbance n irritation…Who is to be blamed for all this???? ….Surely no one but ourselves… And it is we ourselves who can rectify it… Begin by changing oneself …It’s never too late to begin…

To be nobody but yourself in the world that is doing it’s best to make you just like everybody else means to fight the greatest battle there is to fight….& to never stop fighting…
